A striking 19th century American folk portrait oil painting on board of a young woman in a black, lace-trimmed dress. She is holding a book. Artwork in original gold frame measures 29" x 24.5". A companion portrait, presumably her husband, is available in a separate listing. They make a wonderful pair. Artwork is in good, age appropriate condition with light craquelure. Original frame is in good, age appropriate condition with light scratches / dings as would be expected.
