David Wilson (Australian, 1919-2013) oil on canvas painting titled "Francoise and Tamarind Montseveroux France." A cross-legged man lounges peacefully in a lawn chair surrounded by a lush, color-filled garden. The impressionistic brushstrokes give the painting, too, a relaxed feel. You can almost feel the warmth of the sun. Signed lower right. Dated October, 10 1995 and titled on the back. The art measures 25.5" x 31.5" including the frame. Painting is in excellent condition. Gold, solid wood frame is new.
Born in Hobart Australia, David Wilson studied art in Melbourne with Archibald Colquhoun. He later exhibited at the Victorian Artist Society in Melbourne. Wilson moved to the England in the 1940s to further his career. He exhibited at the Royal Institute Of Oil Painters, Royal Academy and the New English Arts Club in London between 1952 and the late 1980s. He studied and painted with fellow Australian artist Heyward Veal. Wilson was forever inspired by the work of impressionists Monet and Alfred Sisley,
