Earl Mayan (American, 1916-2009) still life oil painting on artist panel. Signed lower left. Titled on verso “Arrangement # 2”. Dated 2006. In frame this painting measures 12” x 15”, and the art alone measures 9” x 12”. Depicts bananas, apples, blue and white Chinese pottery and a tea cup on a colorful tablecloth against a striped wall. This painting has not previously been on the market - Mayan held this piece in his studio until his death. Both the frame and painting are in excellent condition
Earl Mayan was an American illustrator whose early career spanned the era of pulp magazines to the post World War II years alongside Norman Rockwell at The Saturday Evening Post. From 1954 to 1961, he painted ten Saturday Evening Post covers and illustrated many of the stories that appeared as inside the magazine.
