An incredible Juan Antonio Morales (Spanish, 1909-1984) oil painting on canvas of a circus troupe on the beach. A man seated on a colorful drum trains a poodle under a striped awning. A girl in a wide brimmed hat holds a hoop behind her back as she watches a horse and rider run along the sand. A row of white tents with flags waving create a perimeter for their activities. Strategic pops of bright orange expertly direct your eye around the whole of the piece. Just fantastic.
Signed lower right. Morales' works are held by the Museum of Modern Art, among others. Previously priced at $12,500 by a New England gallery. Housed in an absolutely beautiful carpathian elm burl veneer frame, which is likely the original frame. Artwork in frame measures 27" x 31".
